Shrimp 65 - low cal version



Ever since i came across this recipe by Divya..my mind was like...God! i definitely need to try it out. But just brought in some variations of my own to get its "calorie count" to the lower side while cooking.



You need
Shrimp - around 20-25

For marination

Egg white - 1
Corn flour - 2 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
Kashmiri Chillie Powder - 1tsp
Red sweet paprika powder - 1/4 tsp
Garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste

For seasoning
Garlic - finely chopped - 2 tbsp
Green chillie - 3, slit length wise
Onion - 2, cut long , thin
Curry leaves - a stem
Low fat yogurt - 2 tbsp
Red food colour - a pinch
Salt and pepper powder to taste

 

Shell and devin the prawns. Wash thoroughly and boil in water with some turmeric powder, salt and pepper.

Once cooked, strain the stock. 

Prepare the marinate my mixing all the listed ingredients.  


Coat the prawns thoroughly with the marinate and let remain for about 30 minutes.


Fry the prawns in cooking oil. 

Since they are already cooked within, you just need to have the prawns in the oil just for about 2-3 minutes till the batter is fried and crisp. Thought this to be a better alternative that having the full batch deep fired to cook.



For the seasoning, into a cooking pan, add in 2-3 tbsp oil, garlic, green chillie, curry leaves and onion.
Saute till golden brown. Now add in the fried prawns and toll well till coated.
Add the yougurt, a pinch of food colour, salt and pepper powder and cook on low flame.
Mix the contents well.
Toss the prawns till the yougurt dries up and is all absorbed.



 Serve HOT !!!

  9. I don't eat shrimp but I must say, your recipe is so tempting & the picture is very inviting & I might as well grab a spoon & sit for a dinner :-)

  10. thanks Pavithra. you can just very well replace shrimp and follow the same recipe. just need to cook/steam the main ingredient before frying the batter so that they dont consume much oil....say, chicken. cauliflower..potatoes even..
