Puff-pastry snacks - various

ITEMS :
As these items were made for a cookery demo, all were done together, and the clicks were taken at that time.
1. Bell pepper n cheese primavera.

2. Meat ball lollipuffs.

3. Romano ribbons.

4. Pastry shells

You need :
Puff pastry sheet - thawed to room temperature as per package instruction
Shredded  cheese
Bell peppers - red, green, yellow
Pepper / oregano for flavour
Beaten egg, for egg wash

How to :
1. Bell pepper N cheese primavera :

* - Slightlr roll the thawed puff pastry sheet on a dusted rolling pan.

* - Cut into 2 " squares and place a small amount of shredded cheese on the cut slice.

* - Cut beller pepper into thin long slices and place it diagonally on the cut puff pastry sheet and close the opposite egdes with a drop of water. You can add a pinch of pepper or oregano to the peppers before closing the pastry edges for that extra flavour.
* - Cut thin slices of the pastry sheet about 1 cm wide and wrap round the centre of the pastry pocket as shown, closing on the backside, again with a drop of water.
* - The thin strips can be wrapped around a cooked meat ball one over the other as shown. Once baked , it makes a super easy starter by itself as such, or can be even pricked on to a skewer to be called as "meat ball lollipuffs" !
* - Apply egg wash to the pastry sheets and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 deg C for about 20 mins or till they turn golden brown.
* - The cut 1 cm thin strips of puff pastry can be skewered on in a zig-zag manner, and brushed with egg white and dusted with pepper or oregano. Thats what is called as "Romano Ribbons" ..easy, is it not?

* - For puff pastry shells, cut the thawed and rolled puff pastry sheet using a cookie cutter / glass / or any mould depending on the required shape. In the picture above - bottom right hand corner, I have used a plain round glass to cut the sheet and a smaller round shaped glass to just make an incision on the pastry. Do not cut. Bake at 180 deg in a pre-heated oven for 20 mins or till gloden brown and cooked.

 -
* - Once out of the oven and cooled, slightly press the inside of the shell to lower the cnetre portion to form a well in the centre. Just press it down . Need not remove it out.

* -  Fill inside the centre pouch with whipped cream topped with fruits, jelly, jam etc.

Chips n Jelly flowers

Insert a candy stick (preferred green in colour. i cudnt find any at the time, so just went for what was available) onto a toothpick.
Carefully insert a chip (the flower shaped variety) and close the open end with a round shaped jelly. Note : a regular bun makes a great base to make a fully edible center-piece.
Thats a slightly different version with a marshmallow base instead of the candy stick.

Paper doily flowers

Insert a small sized paper doily onto a bamboo skewer and close the bottom centre of the doily as shown .Wrap it tight round the skewer using cellotape.

Insert a Hersley Kiss on the open sharp end of the skewer. Flower is done!

Makes a quick party edible arrangement.
